1.Your Penguin basics

-Moving and finding things.
First off to move you penguin you can click with your mouse on the place you desire to go there. It won’t go on the walls though. Club penguin is a big place and keeps getting bigger and bigger every month so there are always a lot of rooms to discover. TO change rooms just click on the door or path to go to the next room. Sometimes club penguin has parties with items lying out in random places, to get these items just click on them to waddle over then you can receive you item.

-A faster way to travel!
A faster way of traveling is to use the map. From here you can select any room and click to go there. However some rooms have to floors so be sure to check those rooms out. An example of this type of room is the 2nd floor coffee shop knows as the book room.

-Your igloo
To go to your igloo click the button with the house on it at the bottom right of you screen. Once in your igloo you can do a lot of things. Maybe throw a party, edit it, and talk with friends. To edit and buy things with your coins you earn first click the measuring tape. This will bring you into edit mode where you can buy and edit things for you igloo.

-Short cuts to typing.
In club penguin there is a list of auto keys that say a certain message if you type it. But the way to do this is if you don’t click in the chat box then you hit the appropate keys

2.Coins/Money

-Earning coins
There are tons of different games to earn coins in, and their all spread out all over the club penguin terrain. They're called mini-games and more and more are added to club penguin ever year. You have to find the location of all the games your self though, have fun exploring. There is lots of different types of games, some games where you can earn a lot of coins really fast or games to just relax and play with a friend.

-Beware
There are people in the game that like to “cheat” and get their coins for free, but if they do this they will probably get their penguin banned. If people ask for you password and say they will get you coins do NOT trust them! Ever! Their just cheaters that want to ban your account.

-Multiplayer games

As I was talking about earlier there are multiplayer games all around club penguin. The well known one “sled racing” can have up to 4 people racing down a hill at the same time! Also you can challenge a buddy to play find four or mancala.

3.EXTRA EXTRA read all about it, it’s the news!

-The club penguin news...
is a great way to find out all about what’s happening in club penguin. A new issue is released every Thursday. The news button is located at the top of your screen and once you click on it your penguin goes into “news mode” where you penguin holds the newspaper. You can’t type while reading the news though.

Not only is the news informative but also it is also interactive. There are tons of games, tips and helpful hints. Especially aunt artic, every week she will answer a few questions that you can submit. You can also submit a drawing, comic, poem, jokes and much much more. However your submission won’t always make it in. But don’t be to disappointed theirs always next time.

4.Special Club Penguin Characters

-Aunt Arctic
As I said before aunt artic is the weekly advice penguin for the newspaper. Ever week she answers a few questions that you can submit. Also you can help her out on one of the secret missions, oops did I talk to soon??

-YARR it be Captain Rockhopper
Rockhopper is a friendly pirate to the island and stops by every once in a while to visit. Yes I mean visit if your lucky enough you may be able to spot Rockhopper waddling through out the island! If you meet him he will give you a special gift. Happy searching!

Oh and did I mention he has a ship! Yes that’s how he comes to club penguin he brings his ship the Migrator and sets sail. When he stops by you can visit his ship and have a pirate party if you like. Also he has his trusty companion yarr the red puffle. OHH and I also forgot to mention that he brings free items for penguins to take. He also brings some for people to buy also.

-Gary the Gadget Guy.
Gary is Club Penguin’s gadget inventor. He has built plenty of inventions that penguins can use and have fun with like the clock tower, the Pizzatron 3000, and the jet packs which you may discover later in the game.

5.Non-Members and Members

-Non-Members...
are the penguins that chose not to pay membership for club penguin; therefore they can not purchase clothing and igloo decorations. But instead can only get “free” items. Free items are items that are given out at club penguin parties. The free items can also go to members also. The free items can come up al over the place in club penguin. But they only come up when club penguin is having special events.

::Important::
non-mambers may not be able to get as many items as members but that does not mean they are bad or stupid. Non-members deserve the same respect as members do, so please don’t treat them un-kindly.

Members...
Are the penguins that have purchase membership and can get the extra features in club penguin like purchase items and lots of other things.

6.Puffles

-Puffles...
are small furry creatures that live in club penguin, and are for adoption. You can do a lot of things with puffle like feed them, play with them and even walk them! However if you don’t feed it or play with it for a long time they will run away and you can only get it back if you buy another one.

-Adopting a puffle
To go adopt a puffel you need to head down the pet shop which in the plaza to the left of the stage. Each puffel cost 800 coins to purchase. But before you go off and buy one you have to pick the right one.

-Different types of puffle
There are tons of different colors to choose from and each different color has its own personality. Once you read through all of the different types make your decision. After that you have to think of a name for you puffle. And after you do that it will automatically pop up in you igloo. Make sure to remember to feed it and take care of it though!

7.Parties!!

Parties!
-In club penguin there are tons of parties that happen all the time. And at each party they release a free item that you don’t have to pay for. In every party club penguin is decorated to the max! Also club penguin is always finding new ways to entertain you at the party, with cool interactive things to do, and new items.

-Seasonal parties
Some party’s happen every year no matter what, their called seasonal parties. An example of the seasonal party is the Christmas party. That party will happen every year no matter what. Also watch out for the once a year anniversary hat of club penguin. Which comes out every year at the time when club penguin turns another year older.

8.Clothing catalogues/ clothing items

-Clothing catalogue
Every month club penguin releases a new Clothing catalogue that has new items every time. A lot of the time the items released in the catalogue depends on what type of year it is. In the winter they will release lots of warm clothes, but in the summer time they will put out something warm.

-Items you have never seen before??
If you see a penguin with an item that is not in the current catalogue it is probably an older item that has already been released in a catalogue before. Their are lots of items that have not been released in a long time so only a few people have it. If you see an item that you really want you will just have to wait till it is released again. Don’t worry though, all clothing items except the first clothing item ever released will come back.

-Clearance items
In the last sections of the clothes you can see a few pages called the “clearance section” those are the items that are leaving the catalogue and who knows when they will be back?

-Pins
Pins are a little icon that you can wear on the top left side of you “player card” Club penguin releases a new one every 2 weeks. However they can be hidden anywhere in club penguin! So that means you will have to search for them.

-Pins gone forever
Once a pin is released it will never come back again. So once the two weeks are up, the pin is gone. And the only pins you can buy is a flag of your country. The country pins are located in the back of the clothing catalogue

-Player card backgrounds
You may have noticed in the clothing catalogue that there are decorative squares. Those are called backgrounds. You can place them behind you penguin to give your penguin the finishing touches. They cost 60 coins each. However un-like the pins backgrounds DO come back.

-Other clothing catalogues
Their are a lot more places to buy clothes other than the gift shop! There is also the sports shop, the stage, and the wig shop! How ever those are not up-dated as often.

-Party Hats
Party hats is one of special items in Club Penguin. Party hats only released when Club Penguin celebrating their anniversary which is on the 24th of October. The party hat is always having two colors in it. Same like pins, any party hat colors that already relesed will never come back.ever.-(thanks

9.Furniture items

-Furniture items...
are items that you can put in your igloo to decorate it up. Their are many themes you can have in you igloo. Maybe you like a dance theme, or maybe you like an out door theme. There are tons of different styles to choose from.

-Different types of items
Their are 4 different types of items: carpets, wall, floor, and puffle items. And every type of item can only go where it is meant to go. For example floor items cannot go on the wall.

-Two different igloo catalogues
There are 2 different igloo catalogues.

1) The furniture catalogue
This is used to buy the furniture for your igloo

2) Igloo catalogue
This catalogue is used too but different shapes and styles of igloos.

-Furniture items do go away
Just like in the clothing catalogue the furniture items go away also, but will eventually come back

10.Filters

-what they are
Filters is a system in club penguin that blocks out or "filters" certain words or phrases. This is very useful for when people try to say bad things to other people, the filters will just block them out. Also it blocks out other messages like street names, real people names. This is for safety reasons

-the trouble they cause
The filters not only help us out a lot with safety but they also have some dis-advantages. A lot of the time penguins try to have a normal conversation but the filters block out a normal conversation. This makes communication very hard because no matter what you type it will show up on your screen, but may not show up for the person your talking to.

-2 types of lists for the filters
-"White list"-Most of foreign language beside English will be blocked, because they are words on the "whit list". The white list is the list of words that is blocked but you do not get banned for it.

-"Black list" list contains words that you will get banned for, it contains cussing, sexual language, etc
.-(thanks
7styl3 for the italic information)

11. Glitches/Bugs

-what glitches/bugs are
Club Penguin is not perfect, no one is perfect and there for club penguin does have some "bugs" or "glitches". These are just things in the game that you can do but are not supposed to happen. Every once and awhile club penguin gets new glitches. However club penguin trys very hard to stop gliches from happening because they are not a real part or feature of the game.

-Some things may NOT be a glitch.
Some times people try to cheat and create their own glitches. This is very bad, it is called hacking and you will get banned for it! A example this is if you see people with 2 of the same type of clothing items on at the same time like 2 head items at one time. The best thing to do is report this user and leave.

12.All about your cache

-what this means
When you are asked to clear your cache that means you are running on an old out of date version of club penguin, and you need to clear your cache to run on the current version. Because club penguin is updated often, their is always a new version coming out and some times you computer tries to use the a older version of club penguin. This would make it run super slow or not run at all.

-how to clear you cache
Their are alot of different ways to clear you cache because there are lots of different web browsers. Here are the instructions for the two most popular ones.

-If you use Internet Explorer 6-
1.Look at the very top of the screen. Click on the “Tools” menu.
2.A list of choices will appear underneath “Tools”. Click on “Internet Options.”
3.A small box will pop up on your screen. The first page in the box should be labeled “General.” Look on this page for a section marked “Temporary Internet Files.”
4.Click on “Delete Files.”
5.A small box might pop up that asks if you want to delete all offline content. That’s okay to do. Click the small box to check “Delete All Offline Content.” Then click “OK.”
6.Click “OK” again.
7.To make sure your cache is clear, close your web browser and open it up again. Then log onto Club Penguin. You should not receive the message about clearing your cache again.

2.A list of choices will appear. Click on “Preferences.”
3.Click on “Empty Cache.”
4.A little box will pop up asking if you are sure you want to empty your cache. Click “Empty.”
5.To make sure your cache is clear, close your web browser and open it up again. Then log onto Club Penguin. You should not receive the message about clearing your cache again.

-in this section highlight the text to reveal the secret-

1.Hidden clothing catalogue items
In every catalogue their are hidden items, and what I mean by this is that you have to click on a spot in the catalogue to reveal the item. Now in every catalogue their is the "red helmet" and the "blue helmet" but they are always hidden somewhere inside the catalogue. To get to the blue helmet first you must find the red one then click on it 4 times, then the blue one will appear.

2.Secret Agents
Secret agents are people who go arround club penguin making it safer. To become a secret agent you ned to be 45 days or older. After you are click the little "m" at the top right of you screen (you will need to be logged into club penguin for this) You will need to complete the quiz, and sorry ime not going to give you the answers to it. Once you become a secret agent you will have access to the Agent head Quarters. From here you can do missions and buy super spy gear!

3.Hidden igloo catalogues
Hidden furniture items are just the same as hidden clothing catalogue items. You have to find them and click on a object to get the item. Accept this time it is with furniture and not with clothes. Their are hidden items in both the better igloo catalogue and the furniture item catalogue.
